- Driver restraint system malfunction keeps coming on since I purchased vehicle and hendrick BMW has tried to repair my car multiple times but issue.
- Only 5 years old 41k miles, mint condition, while driving the light came on saying 'driver restraint system malfunction. After checking all the i3 blogs this seems to be an ongoing issue. I took my car over to bmw today, they looked at it and said the airbag has malfunctioned same thing as the blogs are outlining.
- Errors related to the restraint system are a common issue for BMW, especially with cars made from 2000 onwards. When there is an issue with seat belts, a message will pop up on the iDrive display and warn the driver. Besides that, there will be an airbag warning light and a seatbelt warning light on the dashboard.

BMW Driver Restraint System Malfunction Hello everyone, I've been driving a 2012 BMW 535xi and I've come to fellow enthusiasts for a little help/support. Two nights ago, while driving, the steering wheel started making a weird clicking noise while turning.
Whats this all about. On motorway over the weekend and this flashes up on the idrive.Restraint Systems fault! with red airbag light:
I stopped by a BMW place on the way home who were quick to announce that the under seat connections are a 'common' issue area. Mostly by people pulling out the wires with stuff stuck under their seats (We couldn't see any evidence of wires out).
Car booked in for a new battery in a week so will all be checked out then.
I haven't checked any fuses yet.
